Dear Genesis NPHC Friends and Community Partners,

You may be aware that John Wynbeek, the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Genesis Nonprofit Housing Corporation (Genesis) will soon be retiring after more than seventeen years of dedicated leadership. In February of this year, the Genesis Board launched an extensive search process to find John’s replacement.

Today, the Genesis Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Bennett as our new CEO. Chris will be assuming his new role on Monday, October 20, 2025. At that time, John will step down as CEO, serving as a consultant to Chris through the transition process.

Chris joins Genesis with more than 15 years of experience in affordable housing and community development. He most recently served as a Real Estate Development Analyst with Enterprise Community Partners, where he played a key role in advancing housing opportunities for underserved communities across the Midwest.

Prior to his work at Enterprise, Chris served as the Director of Housing and Community Development at Dwelling Place, where he oversaw multiple housing initiatives and fostered strong partnerships with local stakeholders. Earlier in his career, he worked with the City of Grand Rapids Community Development Office as a Contract Administrator, gaining valuable experience in public-sector collaboration and compliance.

Throughout his career, Chris has demonstrated a deep commitment to advancing affordable housing, strengthening neighborhoods, and creating opportunities for individuals and families to thrive. His vision and leadership will be instrumental as Genesis continues to grow its impact and pursue new opportunities to expand housing stability across West Michigan.

We invite you to join us in welcoming Chris to Genesis Nonprofit Housing Corporation. We look forward to working with him as we continue to strive to provide safe, affordable, and sustainable housing solutions in the communities where we work.

Sincerely,
Dennis Sturtevant
Board President
